Self-Care kicks off our new Medium channel.
Happy Friday! With Thanksgiving dinner in the rear-view, and having enjoyed time with friends and family, my thoughts return to managing our health and our health information. I took some time to write YouBase's very first @Medium post over the holiday, as I have been exploring the history of self-care movement, the evidence continues to stack up supporting the role that health data has to play in improving health, validating it's patient-empowering, and potentially disruptive role to play, according to disruptive innovation scion, Clayton Christensen.

The time to demand data independence is right now!
Two major hurricaines blasting the Carribean and Gulf States. A bombshell Equifax data breach of 143 million records - largest in US history - affecting almost every adult in the US, and a story that includes potential criminal activity, negligence, and incompetence. All this culminating in a veritable Black Swan for people who were affected by both. If it wasn't enough that criminals try to run scams off the suffering, it's frightening to think of what is in store for some people affected by the hurricaine. On top of the displacement and disruption to life and livelihood, a large number of people will face having their identities exposed on top of it. It's also safe to assume that some of those affected won't have the documents they need to prove their identity, their childrens identies, what they own, or what they may have lost. Insult added to injury.
We delighted that Beckers Hospital Review named YouBase to a list of the 25 blockchain companies in healthcare to know in 2017, ranking us amongst the likes of IBM, Accenture, Microsoft, and PWC, to name a few. We are thrilled that the healthcare industry is taking such a serious look at blockchain technology to solve so many thorny problems.
